Occupational Therapy

Looking for an OT who truly gets you, your family and what you really need? Trust JOURNEY to provide a specialist OT with the skills, knowledge and drive to support you, your child, or loved one not just to reach their goals but to thrive in life.

Why work with a JOURNEY OT?

All too often we have families come to us with a pile of reports and little to no guidance or support to implement the recommendations or strategies identified. At JOURNEY we pride ourselves on our ‘hands on’ approach, supporting not just our clients but everyone involved to implement practical and meaningful approaches to improve life skills, build independence and confidence, better manage emotions, reduce challenging behaviours, learn to self-organise, engage in meaningful activities and maximise success during learning and social interactions.

Our OT Services

Our highly skilled Occupational Therapists provide a range of assessment and intervention services for both children and adults. We specialise in supporting individuals with mental health concerns, autism and other intellectual and developmental disabilities. We get complexity and know how to work with individuals, families and systems to create opportunities and achieve real change.

Our OTs currently provide a range of therapeutic services including:

  • Sensory assessments and sensory based interventions including sensory modulation and sensory integration approaches
  • Functional Capacity Assessments
  • Fine and gross motor skill assessment and intervention
  • Activity planning and meaningful engagement
  • Routines and structure
  • Self-care and other daily skills
  • Emotion regulation skills
  • Improving self-esteem
  • Play and social skills

Where and how we work

Our OTs work in a range of settings including onsite at our beautiful clinic rooms in Moonee Ponds and out in the community. We often visit family homes, schools, supported accommodation, day programs and other settings to ensure that gains we make are easily transferrable to the person’s usual environment. We also believe in a truly collaborative approach, working closely with families, teachers, support workers and a range of other professionals involved in the person’s support network to achieve the very best possible outcomes. The work of JOURNEY OTs is also firmly grounded in evidence-based practice and ensuring our approaches are both trauma-informed and neuro-affirming, so you can be assured of a sensitive and inclusive approach.
